Dr Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the World Body, called for a debate on Sustainable Development in General Assembly Committee on 18th Oct, 2018. She told the committee that the policies of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan are fully aligned with the global 2030 Agenda keeping in view the three dimensions of Sustainable Development.
“Revitalizing the economy, youth employment, sustainable housing, institutional reforms, universal access to health services and education, ensuring food, energy and water security, access to clean drinking water and sanitation are some of the top priority areas of the new government,” she said.
She highlighted the importance of promoting decent work to eradicate poverty and inequality. She also focused on bridging the structural gaps in labour to implement the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.
