The Mississippi Center for Nonprofits and the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project will host a Principles, Practices & Philanthropy Forum Oct. 12 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. at Union Station in Meridian.

The forum will consist of panel discussion of organizational structure, federal and state compliance, lobbying and advocacy and labor and employment issues as well as a presentation from Winky Glover, area board member and tax attorney with the firm Glover, Young, Hammack, Walton & Simmons.

Also including in the forum is a presentation on leadership concepts by Rex Baker, Executive Director of the Gateway Rescue Center in Jackson, a Fired Up! For Fundraising segment with Jo G. Prichard from the Center and a funder’s panel with local representatives from area funders.

Included on the funders panel will be Lloyd Gray with the Phil Hardin Foundation, Becky Glover of the Community Foundation of East Mississippi, Sammy Moon, with the Mississippi Association of Fundraisers and Jim Wink of the United Way of East Mississippi.

The Phil Hardin Foundation and the Community Foundation of East Mississippi will reimburse the registration fees for up to two representatives (staff and/or board members) from three nonprofit organizations to attend the training.
